Kaspersky, a leading global cybersecurity company, announced Monday the opening of an office in Colombia as one of the actions to strengthen the company's presence in Latin America and ensure that clients, partners and users in the region have access to top-level security solutions to protect their businesses, infrastructures and devices.

Inaugurating the Bogotá-based entity, Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of the company, said that “our presence, commitment and focus in Colombia seeks to provide Latin American organizations with the power, experience and knowledge in cybersecurity to fulfill our promise of building a safer world for all.”

The Colombia office is Kaspersky’s third office in Latin America, where it has been operating for 16 years. Currently, there is one office in Mexico City and another in Sao Paulo. All commercial efforts for Northern Latin America (NOLA), a region comprising the countries of Central America and the Caribbean, Venezuela and Colombia, will be coordinated from Bogotá.

“The opening of this new office in Latin America is part of our natural evolution in the region where we have been operating for 16 years with local staff, protecting companies from regional threats and expanding the business for the benefit of employees, business partners and customers,” said Claudio Martinelli, Director for the Americas at Kaspersky, who highlighted that one of the features that Latin American customers value most is that the company offers them the flexibility to manage data both on-premise and in the cloud, according to their preferences, “in this way, we guarantee that data processing does not leave their countries, that is, we respect local data protection regulations.”

Daniela Alvarez de Lugo, general manager for NOLA at Kaspersky, said that the opening of this new headquarters reinforces the company's commitment to partners and clients in the region and is a commitment to the strategic and economic importance that Colombia has in Latin America: "this country, this region is made up of growing markets, where cybersecurity represents a very relevant business opportunity."

Kaspersky currently has 150 employees across the region, including a team of Research and Development analysts who monitor cybersecurity risks on the continent. The opening of this office is part of the company's global growth strategy. The company currently operates in more than 200 countries and has more than 5,000 employees.
