Kemira completes Uruguay hydrogen peroxide expansion

Finnish chemicals company Kemira said it has successfully completed the expansion of its hydrogen peroxide plant in Fray Bentos, Uruguay, which supplies a pulp plant in the city. "We finalized the expansion in the planned schedule and the capacity was increased by 65% which allows us to serve the growing demand of the product in the regional pulp market," Pedro Cirillo, director of Kemira Uruguay, said in a statement. "This investment is well aligned with Kemira's strategy to grow in pulp chemicals in South America," Hilton Casas, president of the South America region, said. The expansion project was carried out from April 2012 to June 2013. Kemira provides expertise and tailored combinations of chemicals for water-intensive industries. It focuses on the pulp and paper, oil and gas, mining and water treatment sectors.
