Latasa moves HQ to Sao Paulo

Brazilian aluminum can maker Latasa has decided to move its headquarters to Sao Paulo from Rio de Janeiro, O Globo new service reported. The move comes after Latasa was taken over by UK packaging company Rexam (Nasdaq: REXMY) for US$355mn plus the assumption of debt for a total enterprise value of some US$462mn from Pittsburgh-based aluminum giant Alcoa (NYSE: AA) November 2003. Latasa, which operates six plants in Brazil, one in Chile and another in Argentina, had some US$400mn in sales in 2002.
