The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and Agence Française de Développement signed an agreement to provide US$33mn for sustainable infrastructure projects including renewable energy.

Eligible countries are Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Suriname, CDB said.

The initiative is complemented by a 3mn euro (US$3.38mn) technical assistance grant to finance project feasibility studies.

Dominican Republic power holding company CDEEE launched an international call to supply electricity to distributors under two- to three-year contracts.

The process is open to thermoelectric units in commercial operation and connected to the national grid. Consultations to the reference terms will be accepted through August 30 and the deadline to notify the results of company document evaluations is September 28 with offers due October 31.

CDEEE said it is preparing a call for long-term supply.

Officials from Colombia's national environmental licensing authority ANLA will conduct a site visit next month as part of permitting for transmission project UPME Chivor II-Norte.

ANLA made the announcement following a meeting with representatives of the community in the project's area of influence.
