Liberty Mutual Insurance Company strengthens its operation in Puerto Rico
Press Release by
With a specialized team that operates locally, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company makes a difference in the environmental liability insurance service in Puerto Rico. To better meet the environmental liability needs of policyholders and brokers in Puerto Rico, the insurer has increased the number of subscribers dedicated to this important line of insurance.
"We offer both capacity and effective responses," explains Humberto Pozo, Vice President of Civil Liability at Liberty Mutual Insurance Latin America. "This allows our local subscribers - who have significant authority - to work agilely with brokers and insureds in the development of tailored environmental civil liability plans. We also have a local claims team, which provides very quick answers and recoveries," said Pozo.
The purpose of the Environmental Civil Liability Insurance is to protect the insured against the expenses that may be incurred and be forced to pay third parties for damages arising as a result of an environmental event, whether sudden, accidental or gradual, also extending to events caused by force majeure. Additionally, and without damage to third parties, this insurance provides coverage for pollution within the premises of the insured.
This insurance, which is designed to cover a variety of activities, is mainly oriented to the construction sectors, companies that own storage tanks, as well as transportation and industries of all kinds, Pozo explains.
Puerto Rico, which has the highest insurance penetration rate in the region, with a solid 14.9%, has a series of regulations and standards promoted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for environmental liability insurance. Liberty Mutual Insurance Company is continually optimizing insurance solutions to meet these needs
