UCOM-MHE 02-09-23.- In a meeting at the highest level, the national government today in Brasilia addressed investment projects in lithium, electricity, hydrocarbons, fertilizers, agriculture and livestock.

In the meeting with the vice president of the Federative Republic of Brazil and current Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, issues related to energy integration projects were discussed, within the framework of compliance with the Bilateral Agenda between Bolivia and Brazil .

At the meeting, in which the Minister of Rural Development and Lands, Remmy Gonzales, also participated, it was agreed to install technical tables that culminate in the future signing of agreements and memorandums of understanding between both countries.

On the occasion, a presentation was made of a portfolio of investment projects in hydrocarbon exploration and fertilizer plants, in addition to other interconnection projects linked to agreements that are being evaluated to provide electricity in border towns and provide service to the areas. depressed

Likewise, the construction of the NPK plant in Cochabamba was mentioned, which is part of the strategy to improve agricultural productivity, which will make the country self-sufficient in food production and consumption. The production of this plant is also of interest to Brazil, which currently purchases 70% of its phosphorus from other countries; 90% nitrogen and 97% potassium.

Likewise, an important issue was the prompt inauguration of the Bolivian Lithium Deposits (YLB) Lithium Carbonate Plant in the Uyuni salt flat (Potosí) and the installation of other industrial complexes by private companies in Coipasa (Oruro) and Pastos Grandes (Potosí), which will also require supplies.

In addition, Brazil is a vehicle supplier in the region and in this scenario Bolivia has the conditions to promote the production of lithium batteries, since YLB currently has a pilot plant that can be promoted at an industrial level.

In relation to ethanol, Bolivia plans to increase ethanol production and the need was raised for, within the framework of an agreement, the country to access the experience that Brazil has in the area of regulation, price chain and technology in this area. .
