British wireless messaging solutions developer LogicaCMG billed 10mn pounds (US$19.2mn) in Brazil's cell phone messaging market last year, up 20% compared to 2003, LogicaCMG South American sales and marketing director Vancrei de Oliveira told BNamericas. LogicaCMG's solutions transport 98% of the 800 million messages sent by Brazilian mobile users each month. "We supply all the Brazilian mobile operators except CTBC Telecom and Brasil Telecom GSM," Oliveira said. Brazil is South America's second biggest messaging market, outnumbered only by Venezuela with 1.2bn messages a month. LogicaCMG has a 100% market share in Venezuela, as in Colombia, Ecuador and Suriname. The third biggest South American market is Argentina where 50% of the 600 million messages sent each month run over LogicaCMG platforms. "Brazil's messaging market is in the middle of a fantastic growth process, pushed by the mobile operators' massive ad campaigns and we are sure that this tendency will continue in 2005," Oliveira said. "MMS and WAP services are increasing their messaging market share due to new and more complex additional services, but SMS is still responsible for 90% of the total messaging volume," Oliveira added. LogicaCMG billed 25mn pounds last year from South America's SMS, MMS and WAP service market. Globally these wireless network solutions brought in revenues of 237.3mn pounds in 2004. LogicaCMG holds 24% of the global messaging market. Outside the South American market the company also offers IT solutions and consultancy. In 2004 the company billed a total of 1.658bn pounds.
