Luca expects commissioning of Mexican Tahuehueto mine in early January

Vancouver-based Luca Mining expects the commissioning of its US$27.5mn Tahuehueto gold-silver underground mine in Mexico’s Durango state in early January, CEO Dan Barnholden said in a company video.  

In October, Luca Mining reported it expected to achieve commercial production at Tahuehueto by the end of this year.

“Over at Campo Morado, ongoing improvements at the mill and a ramp-up of the mine to 2,400t/d. And lastly, of course, exploration is going to be mobilizing at Campo Morado later this month and start to get results in Q1 of 2025,” Barnholden said.  

The CEO recalled that the company raised US$11.5mn in Q3. “That money provided the foundation for us to go ahead and complete construction and move towards commissioning in Tahuehueto. Also, it provided sufficient capital so that we can kick off drill campaigns at both Tahuehueto and Campo Morado,” he said.

Luca Mining produced 11,988oz of gold equivalent during Q3, comprising 3,604oz gold, 158,778oz silver, 5.87Mlb zinc, 1.82Mlb copper and 1.14Mlb lead. During the nine months ended September, the company produced 40,083oz of gold equivalent.
