Lula's public approval is on the up

Approval of the President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva administration is rising among the Brazilian public.

In a survey of 2,000 people pollster Ipec conducted between July 4 and 8, 37% of respondents rated Lula's administration good or excellent, 31% average and 31% bad or very bad, compared to 33%, 33% and 32%, respectively, in March, when the previous survey was released.

Lula enjoys most support in the northeast and among low-income households.

Pollsters Datafolha and Quaest published similar results, with the latter saying that rising approval is associated with expectations of an improving economy over the next 12 months.

Lula, who took office in January 2023 after winning against his predecessor, Jair Bolsonaro, saw approval falling late last year and early 2024.

In response, Lula asked his cabinet to reinforce government communication, highlighting the administration’s economic and social efforts and programs.

In recent months, Lula has traveled the country, announcing federal projects and investments.
