Masaya courts IDB for water, infra. project financing

Bnamericas
Nicaragua's Masaya city may secure funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for several infrastructure and water projects after mayor Orlando Noguera visits the bank, newspaper La Prensa reported. The most pressing issue is a US$22mn project to improve the sewerage and rainwater drainage systems to stop effluents from reaching the Masaya lake. Also, "we presented the need to build a bus terminal, formed by a public and private consortium, as well as the reactivation of 50km of railway that unites the municipalities of Granada, San Juan del Sur and Masaya," Noguera said. Masaya, some 30km southeast of capital Managua, has a population of about 330,000.
