Medellín may build new aerial tram line

The manager of Metro de Medellin, Claudia Restrepo told local newspaper El Colombiano, that she plans to build a a parallel line to the metrocable K line, which links Commune 1 (Santo Domingo) on the hill to the city's metro service through cable cars.
The Metrocable K line is operating at maximum capacity with over 22,000 passengers per day but is overloaded.
"At rush hour, K line users can stand in line for up to an hour and a half," she was quoted as saying. "That's why building line K 2 is currently another important item in the expansion plan."
Three options are considered for the design of this K2 line so as to connect it with the future El Picacho cable line, also part of the system's expansion plan.
Metrocable began operations in 2004 as one of the first aerial cable car systems in the region.
