Megaport lands in Brazil hosted at Equinix, Elea and Takoda datacenters
Australian cloud services provider Megaport started operations in Brazil with its interconnection services being hosted at the datacenters of Equinix, Elea and Takoda.
The company’s points-of-presence (PoP) were deployed at four locations: Equinix’s SP2 and SP4 sites, Elea’s SP01 and Takoda’s SP1, all in São Paulo metropolitan region. Investment figures were not disclosed.
In a statement, Megaport said customers at these locations “will be able to access leading solutions for datacenter to cloud, datacenter to datacenter, cloud to cloud, and edge networking use cases.”
Brazil is the second market in Latin America where Megaport goes live. At present, the company has PoPs in place in four Kio datacenters in Mexico: Mexico City’s MEX1, MEX2 and MEX4, and Querétaro’s QR01.
Launched in 2015, Megaport is present in over 860 datacenter locations and 26 internet exchanges, connecting over 410 service providers.
Its ecosystem includes connection to the clouds of AWS, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, IBM, Alibaba and Salesforce.
“While Brazil leads South America in its digital infrastructure capabilities, slow telecommunications provisioning times continue to constrain business innovation,” Megaport said.
“Now, with the introduction of Megaport, Brazilian clients will have access to rapid deployments, global connectivity speeds of up to 100Gbps, and scalable network infrastructure accessible via a self-service portal and API.”
Megaport’s Brazil office will be headquartered in São Paulo and led by Adriano Bueno Rodrigues, a former Lumen and Cirion executive.
As part of its long-term local strategy, Megaport said it is looking towards expanding to other datacenters in the country.
