Members of the Armed Forces entered the facilities of the 1,500 MW Coca Codo Sinclair hydroelectric plant yesterday, September 18. In accordance with the order of the President of the Republic, Daniel Noboa, they will be part of the group of officers who will reinforce the internal and external security of the country's main hydroelectric plant, as well as support the operation of the power generation units.

In a first activity, the officers, together with the Manager of the Coca Codo Sinclair Business Unit, Jorge Goyes, and technicians from the plant, took a tour of the control room, the machine room and the GIS substation, where they learned about its systems and equipment.

Starting this Thursday, September 19, the personnel will begin the training plan on the operation and functioning of the plant, which will last 150 hours. The objective is to prepare the military personnel on the specific tasks of operating the hydroelectric plant.

The National Government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mines and CELEC EP, manages various mechanisms to provide security to the electrical system and its main infrastructures against physical and cyber threats.
