Mexican officials report progress on finding body of last miner in El Pinabete tragedy
Mexican government officials met on Monday with the families of the El Pinabete miners to update efforts to recover the body of the tenth and last worker trapped for more than two years in the coal mine in Coahuila state.
Due to a flood, the miners were trapped in the El Pinabete pit on August 3, 2022, and the government of Claudia Sheinbaum reaffirmed its commitment to find the last miner.
The meeting with the relatives was led by the national coordinator of civil protection, Laura Velázquez Alzúa. Specialized personnel from federal power company CFE and the attorney general's office of Coahuila also participated, according to official information.
