Mexico City calls tender for cable car line

Mexico City's transport regulator (ORT) has called for expressions of interest from international firms in a contract to build line No. 1 of Cablebús, the first cable car system in the capital.
The letter sample that companies must submit to participate in the tender was published in the city's official gazette on Monday.
"The sample is being made public in order to attain improved legal, administrative, technical, and economic conditions on the part of those interested in participating in the construction of line No. 1," ORT said in a notice.
Cablebús will be over 34km long and have four lines. The first, which will be 9.4km, will link the hilly neighborhood of Cuautepec to Indios Verdes in the northern Gustavo A. Madero district. Bids are expected to be opened on April 15 and the winner announced on May 2, with works beginning 10 days later.
The second line will connect the Santa Catarina area to Constitución de 1917 metro station, both in the Iztapalapa district, while the third line, in the Tlalpan district, will link the neighborhoods near the Ajusco volcano to the national university campus. A fourth line will be built in the Álvaro Obregón district.
Construction of the first two lines is expected to begin this year. Total investment for the four lines is estimated at US$600mn.
