Mexico City's mayor-elect promises 2 new BRT lines and to complete metro line extension

Mexico City’s mayor-elect Clara Brugada pledged to build two new BRT lines during her administration (2024-30) and finish the extension of metro line No. 12.

She said the new BRT lines will run along two of the city’s major roads: line No. 0 along Circuito Interior and line No. 8 from Alameda Oriente to Toreo, along the city’s beltway.

“Electromobility will be a priority of my administration. Our city will be at the forefront of safe, economic, fast and environmentally friendly transportation,” Brugada said on her X account.

“We will finish the expansion of metro line 12 and we will continue to connect our city to guarantee the best mobility for everyone,” she said.

Brugada has not announced any further details or dates to launch the bidding processes.
