Bnamericas

Mexico’s federal power company CFE will receive on April 2 and 8 technical proposals and bids, respectively, for acquiring and installing a reverse osmosis system for its Mérida II thermal plant in Yucatán state.

A winner will be picked on April 15, according to the company’s procurement site.

Published on Tuesday under procurement number CFE-0900-CAAAT-0004-2024, the tender is open to foreign companies and comprises three stages: delivery of the system, its installation and training of personnel.

CFE will host a questions session with interested participants on March 25.

Reverse osmosis technology is used to treat seawater, and the state-owned company has held several similar tenders in recent years.

The company’s generation park is made up of 158 plants using various technologies such as combined cycle, hydroelectric, nuclear (the Laguna Verde plant), geothermal, wind and solar photovoltaic.

In Yucatán state capital Mérida, CFE is also building a combined cycle plant dubbed Mérida IV, with estimated investment of US$500mn.
