Mexico publishes definitive results of 1st long-term power auction

Mexico's national energy control center (Cenace) published the results of the first long-term electric power auction, awarding contracts to 11 firms for renewable power generation projects.
The firms awarded contracts are Aldesa Energías Renovables, Consorcio Energía Limpia 2010, Energía Renovable de la Península, Enel Green Power México, Energía Renovable del Istmo II, Jinkosolar Investment, Recurrent Energy Mexico Development, Photoemeris Sustentable, Sol de Insurgentes, SunPower Systems México, and Vega Solar 1.
The winners presented 18 bids deemed to be successful, of the 227 offers received from 69 firms. The results also include the awarding of clean energy certificates (CECs).
The auction met the demand for 5.38mn CECs, or 84.4% of the total solicited by state utility CFE. In terms of generation, it covered 5.4TWh, or 84.9% of the total demand.
The initial auction result, published on March 29, was modified on March 30 when it became apparent that one of the bidders did not meet the process requirements, and a new selection process was carried out.
