Mexico state governor reportedly leaving at least 20 infra projects unfinished

The outgoing administration of Mexico state, the most populated state in the country and led by Alfredo Del Mazo (in photo), is leaving at least 20 infrastructure projects unfinished for the next governor to take on, local media reported.

According to Obras magazine, the unfinished projects include repairs to 17km of toll roads, the construction of two road bridges, and a footbridge.

Construction of the 7km Conexión Oriente highway that will connect the eastern ring road with the Peñón-Texcoco highway and involving investment of 3.5bn pesos (US$202mn) is also unfinished, says the report.

Del Mazo’s term ends on Friday, when ruling party Morena’s Delfina Gómez will step in.

Some of the projects that Del Mazo did finish, according to Obras, are the Toluca-Naucalpan highway, connecting the Toluca and Mexico Valleys in less than 30 minutes; the urban highway Siervo de la Nación, that connects Mexico Valley with Felipe Ángeles international airport and line No. 4 of the BRT project Mexibus, as well as line 2 of cable car project Mexicable, which was opened this year.
