Mexico's ARZYZ plans US$650mn investment in aluminum plant expansion
Mexican recycled aluminum alloy manufacturer ARZYZ Metals plans to expand its plant in Ciénega de Flores, in Nuevo León state, with an investment of US$650mn.
“Our friends at ARZYZ Metals are coming with everything and are expanding their plant in Ciénega de Flores with an investment of US$650mn, which will generate 1,300 new jobs in our state. This is great! The new Nuevo León is unstoppable,” governor Samuel García said on his social media account X.
Mexican media reported that García held a meeting with executives from ARZYZ Metals during a visit to the plant. The Monterrey-based company has been recycling scrap metal for the production of aluminum alloys for 25 years.
The company has installed capacity of 240,000t/y in its two plants, the other being in Apodaca, with more than 1,500 direct and indirect jobs. It also has operations in the US, Canada, Switzerland and the UK.
“We are very pleased to visit the plant and see how ARZYZ is expanding, implementing green aluminum recycling processes,” the governor said, according to specialized outlet Mexico Industry.
Mario Sergio Ramírez-Zablah, founder and CEO of ARZYZ, expressed his gratitude to the state government for its support. “What we want is for suppliers who come to the state to have access to a local supply network,” he told the publication.
García also said that during his three years in office, 270 new projects or expansions have been registered, totaling US$68bn in investment and the creation of 220,000 jobs. “Thanks to these companies, Nuevo León is now number one in nearshoring and job creation. We will not stop supporting them,” he added.
