Concamin statement

August 30, 2021.- Last Friday 27, in an extraordinary session of COMARNAT (SEMARNAT) the new NOM 001 for wastewater discharge was approved, with a vote against the private and public industry, considering that it establishes excessive parameters and that are not considered internationally.

Its elaboration was unilateral and the participation of the regulated ones was not allowed, which contravenes the spirit and letter of the Federal Law on Metrology and Standardization and, in addition, entails violations of international treaties, mainly the TMEC.

NOM 001 will have a severe economic impact on all water users, both agricultural, water utilities and private and public industry, who would have to change their wastewater treatment plants, which will imply additional costs that they will be passed on to the price of agricultural and industrial products, higher electricity rates and the municipal drinking water and sanitation service.

Despite their vote against, the Confederate industrialists ratified their commitment to caring for the environment, a central aspect of their industrial policy proposal for our country.
