Statement from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications of Paraguay
The project for the Enabling and Maintenance of Agroindustrial Corridors in the Western Region, known as the “Milk Route,” reached a significant construction milestone this week with the completion of the asphalt layer on section 1.
This achievement, celebrated by the Vías de Occidente consortium (made up of Vialtec SA and Constructora Heisecke SA), marks crucial progress towards the completion of this emblematic work promoted by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).
Significant progress in the three lots of the project
The Milk Route, which covers 184.5km of roads in the Central Chaco, is being developed in three sections. Section 1, which goes from the Pioneros Crossing to km 48.4 of the trunk section, including access to Santa Cecilia and Lolita, has reached 92% total progress.
Section 2 includes the Pioneros-Paratodo Crossing, the Paratodo-Cruce Douglas section, the access to Campo Aceval and the Campo Aceval-Cruce Infante Ávalos Sánchez section. It is 95% complete, under the responsibility of the Chaco Central Consortium (Benito Roggio E. Hijos SA . – LT SA.).
For its part, Section 3 , divided into two sectors (Paratodo–Cruce Douglas and Campo Aceval–Cruce Infante Ávalos Sánchez), has the improvement works completed and is in the maintenance phase by Tecnologia del Sur SAE.
The completion of asphalt paving in the first section represents a turning point in the execution of the project, bringing it closer to its objective of enhancing connectivity and growth in these areas of high productive potential.
This initiative, financed with a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), promises to significantly boost economic development and improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the benefited areas, consolidating the road infrastructure crucial for the progress of the region.
