Minas Gerais launches tender for US$65mn road improvement works

Minas Gerais state government published the notice to hire a company to prepare engineering project for road works in the municipally of Brumadinho and the region.

The notice through the department of roads of the state of Minas Gerais (DER-MG), comprises works totaling 350 million reais (US$65 million).

The contract is for repairs and adding two new lanes to the road that connects Brumadinho to highway BR-381, also including Mário Campos and Sarzedo municipalities and benefiting more than 100,000 people, the state government said in a release.

"Divided into stages, the first involves the publication of a notice to prepare the engineering project for widening the section between Brumadinho and Fernão Dias, which will define the best route to be adopted," said the government.

"The second stage involves work to restore the old pavement and include more traffic lanes on MG-155 road, with bidding scheduled for the second half of 2024. Work will begin in 2025," it added.

The third stage involves the widening works, connecting Brumadinho to BR-381, the best route of which will be defined in the engineering project. These works are scheduled to begin in 2026.
