Minas Gerais to offer US$900mn highway contract in June

Brazil’s Minas Gerais state has announced details of a 124km highway concession involving 5bn reais (US$877mn) and planned to be offered on June 13.

The contract covers highways MG-010, MG-424 and LMG-800. Interested parties must submit initial proposals by June 10, according to a notice in the official gazette.

"The concession is yet another effort by the state government to improve mobility in the metropolitan region. With the concession, we estimate, for example, a 30 minute reduction in the time spent on the BH-Sete Lagoas route via MG-424, and similarly on the stretch between the capital and Serra do Cipó via MG-010," infrastructure secretary Pedro Bruno said in a statement.

Main works include 44km of new lanes and 31 new viaducts and bridges.
