MINEM develops rural electrification projects in border districts for more than S/1,257 million

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Rómulo Mucho, said that his sector is developing a portfolio of 39 rural electrification projects for an amount greater than S/ 1,257 million to bring this service to border, isolated and low-income populations throughout the country.

This was stated during his participation in the IX Ordinary Session of the National Council for Border Development and Border Integration (CONADIF), where he presented the Rural Electrification Program with intervention in border districts.

He added that 7 other projects are currently underway: 1 in Amazonas, 4 in Loreto, 1 in Piura and 1 in Tumbes for an amount of S/460 million. Meanwhile, 3 projects are about to be put out to tender for S/183 million, 2 in Amazonas and 1 in Loreto.

Likewise, a project in Loreto already has a technical file and another 3 projects, in Loreto, Piura and Ucayali, are in the process of preparing profiles, in addition to new initiatives for Loreto, Piura, Puno and Ucayali for S/263 million.

It should be noted that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Javier González-Olaechea, chaired this IX Ordinary Session of CONADIF, with the participation of representatives of the Ministries of Defense, Interior, Transportation and Communications, Education, Health, Housing, Construction and Sanitation, and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

The Regional Governors of Ucayali, Tumbes, Piura, Tacna, and Loreto also attended, as did the Provincial Mayors of Datem del Marañón, Atalaya, and Yunguyo, and the District Mayors of Río Santiago, Yurúa, and San Juan del Oro, as well as the Executive Directors of the National Center for Strategic Planning (CEPLAN).

CONADIF is a space for dialogue where the Government's foreign policy guidelines can be transmitted and where requests and concerns from authorities in border towns can be received for the development and integration of these areas.
