The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), within the framework of its functions to have an energy system that satisfies the national demand for energy in a reliable, regular, continuous and efficient manner, established temporary measures to avoid affecting the fuel supply in Loreto.

Under Directorial Resolution No. 291-2024-MINEM/DGH, the General Directorate of Hydrocarbons establishes that producers and wholesale distributors with their own or contracted storage capacity in Loreto will be exempt from compliance with the obligation to have stocks of Turbo A-1 fuel, Gasolines and Diesel B5.

This measure was enacted at the request of the company Petróleos del Perú – PETROPERÚ SA, to be temporarily exempt from having minimum stocks of fuel, due to production problems at the Iquitos Refinery and climatic aspects of the Amazon River, which affect the logistics for transporting fuel by river.

This measure is temporary, for a period of 30 calendar days, effective early from August 31, 2024, until September 29, 2024.

It is worth mentioning that producers and wholesale distributors have a period of 15 days, starting the day after the end of the aforementioned period, to restore the minimum stock of 5 days of Turbo A-1 fuels, Gasolines and Diesel B5.

The Ministry of Energy will continue to ensure the development of fuel marketing activities in the context of achieving a balance in the components of the national energy matrix.
