The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), as administrator of the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), is financing the construction of pilot projects to bring natural gas to regions without a concession, implementing an LNG regasification plant and connection networks for 1,000 homes as an initial stage.
The Deputy Minister of Hydrocarbons of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), Iris Cárdenas, arrived in the Huancavelica region, where she participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Liquefied Natural Gas Regasification Plant in the town of Callqui Grande, Ascención District, in the presence of the population.
"Today marks a very important milestone for Huancavelica. We begin construction of this pilot project, which marks the start of the widespread use of natural gas in the region, improving people's quality of life with clean, affordable energy for heating and cooking," said Cárdenas.
He emphasized that Huancavelica is the first region in central Peru to implement the new natural gas massification project, which will initially serve 1,000 families with clean energy at a lower cost. "We will complete this project in December, which will allow us to extend the service to more beneficiaries," he added.
The vice minister asserted that with the arrival of natural gas, Huancavelica is becoming a more competitive region, and the objective of the sector's policy is to contribute to the country's development.
"Later, networks with distribution concessions will come. We aspire to have large transmission pipelines in the future, but we're taking the first step little by little."
In turn, the regional governor of Huancavelica, Leoncio Huayllani, highlighted the commitment with which the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) has promoted this project. "Many other regional governors didn't believe this would be possible, but I recognize the minister's determination to make it a reality," he said.
Huayllani indicated that 60 young people have been trained to join this initiative, working on installing natural gas in homes in the region through the Public Technological Higher Education Institute.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) will continue to promote these initiatives that allow for the shorter delivery time of natural gas. These complementary actions contribute to mass availability, ensuring that more families soon have access to energy at a lower cost.
