The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), in coordination with the private sector, is working to promote initiatives that strengthen the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the country, in order to better serve and reduce the waiting times of the tankers that distribute this fuel to different parts of the country.

The Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons of the MINEM, Iris Cárdenas, inaugurated the expansion of LPG dispatch islands at the Pluspetrol company plant in Pisco, which includes the implementation of three new dispatch islands that, added to the four existing ones, will allow up to doubling the current ground dispatch.

Cárdenas Pino maintained that this initiative adds to the State's efforts to have modern infrastructure that supplies the country's energy demand, in a reliable and sustainable manner, with a diversified matrix, contributing to the well-being of the population.

"With the start-up of the Camisea project and the Pluspetrol fractionation plant, which processes natural gas liquids, most of the national demand for LPG is met, playing a very important role where there is no access to gas. natural," indicated the MINEM official.

The vice minister pointed out, regarding supply problems during the closure of ports due to abnormal waves, that the MINEM formulated regulatory modifications to take advantage of the existing storage capacity, which aims to achieve sufficient infrastructure to ensure energy supply.

In turn, Germán Álvarez, general manager of Pluspetrol Peru, expressed Camisea's commitment to energy development and to all Peruvians. "It is an initiative of great value in the country to mitigate the effects of anomalous waves and represents an investment that exceeds S/ 200 million," said the executive.

It is worth mentioning that this project includes the provision of 180 new parking spaces, better lighting, modern environments for waiting for customers, among other improvements that strengthen the supply of LPG in Peru, with a more stable, agile and efficient supply.
