The Minister of Energy and Mines, Rómulo Mucho, said that the signing of contracts for three electricity transmission projects, which will benefit 1 million citizens in the regions of Ica and Arequipa, consolidates the strengthening of the electricity subsector and reinforces investor confidence in Peru's energy potential.

These are the projects: New Poroma Hub Substation (First Stage) and 500 kV Poroma Hub – Colectora Link; New San José Hub Substation – First Stage and 220 kV San José Hub – Repartición Link (Arequipa); and New Marcona II Substation and 138 kV Marcona II – San Isidro (Bella Unión) – Pampa (Chala) Link.

The minister noted that these projects will not only help meet growing energy demand, but will also strengthen the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN), ensuring a more robust and reliable supply in the south of the country.

“With an investment of US$ 152.9 million and a service cost of US$ 27.4 million, these projects include important developments in the Trunk System and Connection Transmission Facilities (ITC), will increase the country's transmission capacity, and will allow the integration of more renewable energies, such as solar and wind energy,” he stressed.

Minister Rómulo Mucho congratulated the company Concesionaria Transmisora Hub Poroma SAC for this achievement, and urged the businessmen to continue working with the rigor and commitment required for the execution of these important projects.

"The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) will be supporting them at every stage, providing the necessary support to ensure that deadlines and quality standards are fully met," he said.

He added that the MINEM renews its commitment to continue promoting private investments through transparent and competitive bidding processes, supported by a clear and predictable regulatory framework, which will make possible a cleaner, more efficient and accessible energy future for all.

The projects, part of the 2023-2032 Transmission Plan, were awarded through a process developed by the Private Investment Promotion Agency (Proinversión) and signed by the Vice Minister of Electricity of the MINEM, Víctor Carlos, on behalf of the State.
