In order to diversify the energy matrix and since the transportation sector represents 42% of final energy consumption; The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), as administrator of the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), promotes initiatives that allow financing the conversion of diesel from heavy vehicles to the vehicular natural gas system.

To date, there are 7,578 heavy vehicles that use Vehicle Natural Gas (NGV) as fuel, of which FISE has financed the conversion, either by changing the engine, dual fuel or overhaul of 530 heavy vehicles.

FISE finances the conversion of the vehicle unit, for an amount of up to S/ 200,000 soles in the case of the installation of a new CNG engine with Euro V technology or higher, and up to S/ 50,000 soles for the conversion of the engine ( overhaul) or the installation of Dual-Fuel equipment (Diesel + CNG).

According to what is indicated on the INFOGAS portal, there are 5,891 public transport vehicles, 1,653 trucks that use CNG-C and 34 CNG-L vehicles; of which 530 were converted through the NGV Savings program, which finances the conversion and certification, without an initial fee or interest, with a period of 5 years for its return.

The disbursement of the financing is carried out by FISE, directly to the conversion workshop, so the beneficiary does not disburse any amount, with the financing payment being made subsequently, according to the payment schedule signed by the beneficiary.

The financing payment is made under two modalities; through the Natural Gas Loading Control System – SCCGNV, that is, every time the beneficiary loads NGV into the vehicle, an additional percentage will be added to the natural gas consumption or through direct deposit, which allows the beneficiary to carry out the Payment of fees at the Bank window.

It is worth mentioning that, if the client pays installments through direct deposit, collection will also continue to be made through the consumption of natural gas for the payment of financing.

The MINEM approved the 2024 Annual Promotions Program, which grants an amount of approximately s/. 62,500,000 soles for conversions of Diesel vehicles to CNG, this amount is equivalent to approximately 500 vehicles nationwide.
