The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) continues to promote initiatives that contribute to the massification of natural gas, not only transforming the energy matrix, but also improving the quality of life of citizens by reducing pollution, improving air quality. and therefore public health.

From Ventanilla, the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, Iris Cárdenas, presented a new modality for converting heavy vehicles from diesel to Natural Gas Vehicles (NGV), through the FISE NGV Savings program, to promote the change of energy matrix in buses and trucks.

We have incorporated a new financing modality for the conversion of heavy vehicles to CNG, focusing on the modification of the engine to adapt it to the use of CNG, with a maximum financing of S/ 50 thousand, without interest and with a return period of up to 5 years, which allows the user to reduce fuel costs by up to 50%,” said Cárdenas Pino.

He highlighted the positive impact generated by the use of natural gas for vehicles on the preservation of the environment. “From November 2021 to April 2024, more than 2,402 tons of CO2 have been avoided, thanks to the conversions of heavy vehicles to CNG with FISE,” he emphasized during his speech.

As part of the Annual Promotions Plan – PAP 2024, the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), allocated an investment of S/ 50 million soles, to carry out conversions in Lima and Callao, projecting to exceed 250 conversions by the end of this year .

Currently, the NGV Savings program has a presence in Lima and Callao, and it is planned to extend it to regions with Natural Gas service stations, such as Ica, La Libertad, Cusco, Piura, Junín, Lambayeque and Ancash.

Vice Minister Cárdenas reaffirmed her commitment to expanding the program, for the good of the population, with this new modality of vehicle conversion being a clear example of how public policies can generate tangible benefits for society and the environment.
