The Minister of Energy and Mines, Rómulo Mucho, pointed out that nuclear technology represents the future of energy generation, which will contribute to diversifying the energy matrix and bringing electricity to isolated locations in the country.

When inaugurating the Conference "Building a sun on Earth: the nuclear option in the face of the challenges of renewable energies", organized by the Peruvian Institute of Nuclear Energy (IPEN), the minister highlighted the progress made by the most developed nations to take advantage nuclear energy and expand knowledge about the energy transition and the creation of new energy sources.

"The development of nuclear energy is an issue that has already been addressed by the Council of Ministers, within the framework of the objective that seeks to lead the Peruvian State to have a diversified energy matrix, and because we are sure that it will serve, in the future , to bring electricity to the most distant and difficult to access places,” he noted.

The head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) pointed out that nuclear technology has been reborn in the world and is now presented as a viable and safe alternative that many countries are using for the generation of clean energy, which constitutes a challenge for our country.

He highlighted that nuclear energy, used for peaceful purposes, can play a very important role in favor of the energy security of our country, and added that it will generate growth opportunities for the benefit of the country.

The conference was directed by the doctor in Physics, Luis Felipe Delgado-Aparicio, a renowned researcher in nuclear fusion, who has directed large joint projects with universities and laboratories in the United States, China, France, Japan and the international community.

Delgado-Aparicio, head of the Department of Advanced Projects and Principal Physics Researcher at Princeton University (United States), highlighted that Peru has enormous resources to develop nuclear technology and, in the future, with a well-structured plan, become in an energy exporting country.

The president of IPEN, Rolando Páucar, also participated in the event, held in the MINEM auditorium; the Vice Minister of Electricity, Víctor Carlos Estrella; among other officials.
