MINEM presents the IX National Transparency Report to the EITI International, corresponding to the 2021-2022 period
This Minem release was published using machine translation.
On May 31, 2024, the Permanent Multisector Commission (CMP) of the EITI Peru unanimously approved the IX National EITI Transparency Report (2021-2022), under the guidelines and requirements required by this transparency standard and complied with delivering the report to the EITI International Secretariat within the stipulated deadline.
The IX National Transparency Report is the product of the joint work of the CMP EITI Peru and the participating entities, both the State (PCM, MEF, MINEM, SUNAT, PERUPETRO, INGEMMET, AMSAC, OEFA, OSINERGMIN and ANA), and extractive companies (34 mining and 17 hydrocarbons).
Likewise, given the commitment assumed with the EITI International, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) through the General Office of Social Management (OGGS) -as Technical Secretariat- promoted the preparation of the IX Report through the implementation of an online computer reporting system.
This mechanism has allowed the automation of the entry of information by State entities and companies participating in the extractive sector; as well as streamlining the information reconciliation process.
The delivery of the IX National Transparency Report has made it possible to request the lifting of Peru's temporary suspension before the EITI, a sanction established since December 31, 2023, as a result of non-compliance with the delivery of the IX Report.
In this way, the Peruvian State reaffirms its commitment, through the MINEM, to continue promoting the EITI Initiative in the extractive mining and energy sector; ratifying that transparency in the sector and the consensual work of the parties (State, Companies and Civil Society) are pillars that will contribute to the sector's strategic governance and the development of the country.
