The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) reported that, in July 2023, significant increases were recorded in the production of various metals compared to the same month of the previous year. The increases were particularly notable in the production of copper (+17.7%), zinc (+8.6%), lead (+6.5%), iron (+6.7%), tin (+5.1%) and molybdenum (+24.7%). , according to the latest edition of the Mining Statistical Bulletin.

The accumulated production, from January to July of this year, also experienced significant growth due to the results obtained in July, as well as those reported in previous months. In particular, the production of copper (+19.8%), zinc (+5.2%), lead (+3.7%), iron (+15.6%) and molybdenum (+2.8%) showed a positive variation compared to the same period of time. of 2022.

In July 2023, national copper production reported 229,728 fine metric tons (FMT), presenting an increase of 17.7% compared to the same month of the previous year, as a result of optimal performance by Marcobre SAC and Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SAA

In relation to national zinc production, it reached a total of 126,870 TMF, experiencing a growth of 8.6% compared to the same month of 2022, due to the outstanding performance of the main companies: Compañía Minera Antamina SA, Minera Shouxin Perú SA and Nexa Resources Perú SAA

The document also indicates that national lead production amounted to 23,838 TMF, reflecting an increase of 6.5% compared to July 2022, mainly due to the performance of Volcan Compañía Minera SAA, followed by Compañía Minera Chungar SAC and Minera Bateas SAC.

Meanwhile, national iron production reported 1,227,656 TMF, resulting in an increase of 6.7% compared to what was recorded in the same month the previous year, as a result of the activities of Shougang Hierro Perú SAA and Minera Shouxin Perú SA

Finally, tin production recorded a total of 2,813 TMF, which constitutes an increase of 5.1% compared to July 2022; and molybdenum reached 2,755 FMT, reporting an increase of 24.7% compared to the same month in 2022.
