The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), through the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), signed an agreement with the company Cálidda, in order to promote the construction of new natural gas distribution networks in Lima and Callao, as part of the Punche Perú Lima-Callao Project.

The Director General of Hydrocarbons of the MINEM, Jorge Arnao, said that this joint effort includes the construction of 34 kilometers of natural gas distribution networks, directly benefiting the population of Cieneguilla, Lurigancho-Chosica, Rímac, San Juan de Miraflores and Villa María del Triunfo.

"This agreement is an example of the Government's commitment to social inclusion, since each household that accesses this service represents a step forward towards a more just Peru, where opportunities reach everyone, regardless of their geographic location or socioeconomic status," he said.

Through this agreement, FISE will invest more than 12 million soles, materializing a vision of progress that seeks to close historical gaps in access to modern energy services. “Every sol invested, every meter of network built, is a step towards a more equitable and sustainable Peru,” said the MINEM official.

In turn, Martín Mejía del Carpio, general manager at Cálidda, welcomed the Government's initiative. "The Bonogas program has been essential to connect the most vulnerable populations in our country. We have more than a million connections made with Bonogas and that fills us with pride."

This project seeks to address requests from associations, human settlements and young people from various districts of Metropolitan Lima, promoting access to natural gas as a clean, safe and economical energy for more than 1,500 families who lack this service. With respect to the projects for the construction of natural gas distribution networks on the hillsides, the MINEM will continue to work in a coordinated manner with Cálidda and Osinergmin, in order to make natural gas available to more Peruvians, installing this service in the high areas of the city, benefiting the most vulnerable population.
