MINEM will invest in 2025 to extend the massification of natural gas and photovoltaic electrification

The following is a machine translation of a Minem release
By 2025, one of the goals set by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) is to continue with the widespread use of natural gas, and to do so it plans to invest more than S/ 200 million to ensure that 100,000 new families benefit from affordable and clean energy in their homes.
Likewise, the administration of Minister Jorge Montero Cornejo has set the goal of completing the construction of new distribution networks to serve the families of Huancavelica and Cusco, with works financed through the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE).
In the transportation sector, the MINEM also plans to allocate more than S/ 160 million to finance the conversion of 30 thousand vehicles to Natural Gas for Vehicles (NGV), promoting the energy transition and the progressive replacement of imported fuels with a resource that the country produces.
Through FISE, the MINEM plans to allocate S/ 96 million to finance the operation of more than 200 thousand users who use photovoltaic panels in rural areas to have electricity in their homes.
Additionally, more than S/ 42 million would be considered to finance the construction of photovoltaic plants in 14 locations in Loreto.
Additionally, a budget of more than S/ 11 million would be included for the Electricidad al Toque program, with the objective of financing the cost of internal installation and connection to the distribution network for 14 thousand new electricity users in urban areas.
And, through the LPG Discount Voucher program, the purchase of bottled LPG cylinders of up to 10 kg will be financed for more than 1.4 million beneficiaries, including homes, soup kitchens, Wasi Mikuna schools (formerly Qali Warma) and Communal Pots.
The MINEM also plans to complete the installation of natural gas service in the 6 hospitals with a current agreement, which would be added to the installations already started in 2024 in Lima, Callao, La Libertad and Huaraz.
