In a ceremony headed by the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte Zegarra, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) signed an Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement with the Regional Government of Apurímac, to develop projects that promote the massification of natural gas in said region .

The document was signed by the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons of the MINEM, Julio Poquioma Shaffer, and the regional governor of Apurímac, Percy Godoy Medina, in the Túpac Amaru room of the Government Palace.

Vice Minister Poquioma said he felt optimistic about the progress in the massification of natural gas in several regions of the country, and welcomed the support and coordination achieved with regional and local authorities, such as Governor Percy Godoy, who make the signing of this Agreement possible and It allows generating new opportunities for development and well-being for its population.

"With this signature, from MINEM we are committed to promoting the necessary conditions to enable the development of projects for the Massification of Natural Gas in the Apurímac region and southern Peru," he stated, adding that training programs will be promoted for technicians and professionals. , to generate new employment and investment opportunities through this energy resource.

At another time, Poquioma pointed out that, to carry out the massification projects, the joint work of all those involved will be important, from the national government, regional government, municipal authorities, and all citizens.

“Our common goal is to make natural gas available to everyone and our families. And together we are going to achieve it,” he said.

In turn, the Apurimeño governor indicated that the massification of natural gas has been a long-awaited dream for his region. "Today it becomes a reality with the signing of this agreement, for which I am very grateful to the articulated work of the central government with the regional and local governments," he remarked.

It should be noted that the massification of gas in Apurímac considers the supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) transported in tankers, to later be regasified. To this end, the project contemplates the construction of an LNG Regasification Satellite Plant.
