Mining fair to open in May

Colombia's Antioquia departmental government will officially open the first mining international show in capital Bogotá on May 12, Liliana Betancourt, a member of the events committee, told BNamericas. The show will take place in Medellín city, capital of Antioquia department, from November 16-19 this year and will include activities such as the XII Colombian mining congress, business roundtable, exhibitions areas and the Colombia jewelry event. "We have made progress in important issues such as the bank of projects that will be provided to investment sector during the event," the official said. The main objective of the event is to internationalize mining in the region, supported by democratic security, governance and the country's major resources. Colombia's mines and energy ministry, the mining and energy planning unit (UPME), Colombia's national university, the Andi-Asomineros mining chamber as well as local geology and mining institute Ingeominas and Colombian-Italian commerce chamber are all backing the event.
