Roberto Resources

Vancouver-based exploration company Roberto Resources signed a non-binding letter of intent to acquire the Claudia project, a low sulfidation epithermal gold-silver exploration property in the historic El Papanton mining district in Durango, Mexico, from Durango Gold, an arms-length private company.

“We are very pleased to announce the proposed acquisition of the Claudia Gold and Silver Project located in the state of Durango, Mexico,” CEO Todd Anthony said.

“Since the early 1990s, Claudia has been under private ownership. The property is an exceptionally attractive exploration site, boasting multiple outcropping structures across several kilometers and offering numerous prime drilling opportunities. Previous drilling in 2007 and 2021 confirmed high-grade gold and silver mineralization on the property, which we plan to aggressively explore and further investigate through additional drilling after the acquisition is complete.”

The project hosts high-grade gold and silver mineralization in quartz-adularia veins and breccias emplaced along multiple northwest-striking structures forming an 11km long horsetail structural complex.

Sonoran Desert Copper

Vancouver-based Sonoran Desert Copper completed the compilation of the geophysical data sets and correlated the drillhole database with the geophysical anomalies from the historical data of induced polarization and electrical resistivity of the Cuatro Hermanos project in Sonora state.

The work summarizes the geophysical analyses of resistivity and IP data, which consisted of four sections, conducted over the copper project.

The survey aimed to delineate the IP anomalies, focusing on copper and molybdenum mineralization. The updated resistivity and IP profiles provide enhanced visualization, which is crucial for characterizing the deposit anomalies and supporting further drilling of untested high-profile copper targets within the project area.

The Cuatro Hermanos project comprises nine concessions totaling 2,825 hectares. It contains a large porphyry copper-molybdenum system with at least four kilometers east-west surface measurements by two kilometers north-south.

El Pinabete accident

The Mexican government reported that work to recover the bodies of 10 miners who died in an accident at the El Pinabete coal mine in Coahuila state almost three years ago has now concluded.

The search for the bodies began a month after the fatal accident on August 3, 2022.

At her morning press conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum said that the "extensive work" has ended and that "the last remains have already been identified and delivered to the families.”

She added that work will begin this year to build a memorial in the area.

Meanwhile, federal power utility CFE will have to make a decision on the future of the open-pit mine.
