The Minister of Energy and Mines and the Vice Ministers of Energy and Energy Savings and Efficiency participated this Tuesday in the presentation of the study "Prospective Analysis of Green Hydrogen in the Dominican Republic", prepared by the Energy Transition Project of the German Cooperation Agency ( GIZ).
The study on the current situation of green hydrogen at the international level and the local prospects was shown during a ceremony held in the presence of Mrs. Katrin Werdermann, deputy head of the Federal Embassy of the Republic of Germany.
Minister Antonio Almonte was accompanied by the Deputy Ministers of Energy, Rafael Gómez and Alfonso Rodríguez, of Savings and Energy Efficiency, who delivered the welcoming remarks for the activity and highlighted the importance of green hydrogen in the move towards energy transition.
Rodríguez said that although the country does not have the regulations for its use, green hydrogen will play a stellar role in the decarbonization of energy systems to move towards the use of clean energy.
He indicated that this type of dialogue helps to create awareness about its use and argued that not all countries will be able to produce energy with green hydrogen, but all will be able to use it.
Mrs. Werdermann, speaking during the event held at the Sheraton Hotel, highlighted Germany's interest in betting on the use of green hydrogen and collaborating with the decarbonisation of energy production processes.
The presented study aims to serve as public policy input for the Ministry of Energy and Mines, as the governing body of the sector.
