Minister Young Receives Update from bpTT

The Honourable Stuart R. Young SC, MP, Acting Prime Minister of The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister along with Ms. Sandra Fraser, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries; and Mr. Terrance Ali, Chemical Engineer II; met with bpTT executives on 21^st October, 2024 at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ International Waterfront Complex, Head-Office, Port-of-Spain.

The bpTT executives present at the meeting were Mr. David Campbell, President, bpTT and Mrs. Giselle Thompson, Vice President of Communications and External Affairs, bpTT.

At the meeting, Mr. David Campbell provided an update on bpTT’s areas of operations within Trinidad and Tobago. Mr. Campbell reported that the seismic acquisition for the Manakin-Cocuina field was completed, and the data collected is now at the processing stage. Mr. Campbell also provided an update on bpTT’s joint venture, deep water projects and the divestment of its mature assets to Perenco.

With respect to drilling operations, it was reported to the energy minister that drilling at the Cypre development continues and further development drilling opportunities are being evaluated. This is in keeping with the energy minister’s call to get every molecule of oil and gas from the ground and bpTT’s commitment to accelerate gas production.

With renewable energy also in bpTT’s local energy portfolio, it was reported that the 92.2 megawatts (MW) solar project, ‘Project Lara’ continues apace and is expected to be online by 2025.

At the meeting, The Honourable Stuart R. Young SC, MP, Acting Prime Minister of The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister emphasized that stakeholder relationships are crucial in energy production and that a more resilient and responsible energy sector is fostered through consistently meeting and collaborating with energy sector stakeholders such as bpTT.
