The Ministry of Public Works will invest almost 300 billion pesos in the Biobío Region in 2025. This was announced by the interim Minister of Public Works, Danilo Núñez, within the framework of the tour led by President Gabriel Boric Font in the region. These investments will also mean more than 5,000 direct jobs, which will allow for further deepening the productive development of the region.
The interim minister indicated that these 300 billion, which are given within the budgetary framework of the Ministry, will allow to begin to carry out large works in the region, such as the expansion of the Concepción-Chiguayante waterfront , the construction of the Pichachén border crossing, the major conservation of the Juan Pablo II Bridge, the construction of the Estero Quilque rainwater system, the paving of the Ralco-Palmucho road in Alto Biobío, and the construction of the Chacabuco viaduct in connection with the Bicentennial Bridge.
“The President has asked us to work until the last day of his administration and to accelerate as much as possible all the projects that are already ready to be put out to tender or to begin construction in order to improve the regional economy, but above all, to provide a better quality of life for people. When we pave a road, as we will do between Ralco and Palmucho, the life of the communities improves, thanks to the progress in connectivity, tourism development, increased trade, productive development in the region, among other benefits.”
Acting Minister Núñez participated in this tour by visiting the construction works of the Carabineros Training School, which involves an investment of 17 billion pesos and is already 96% complete. This Carabineros school will become the second largest in the country and will allow the training of 250 new police officers each year.
The authority also participated in the visit made by President Boric to the Industrial Bridge , which will link San Pedro de la Paz with Hualpén, with a length of 2.5 kilometers and which once inaugurated will be the longest bridge in the country. In addition, it will become the first urban highway outside Santiago, allowing for a 33% improvement in the capacity of the Biobío River crossing, facilitating commercial exchange through local ports.
