Ministry to combat toll evasion

Bnamericas
Paraguay's public works and communications ministry plans to launch a tender to standardize highway toll collection infrastructure to combat toll evasion, La Nacion reported. The ministry hopes to secure private sector financing to standardize infrastructure on public and private toll roads, and pay back the investment from a percentage of tolls collected. The paper quoted minister Jose Alderete as saying that a consultant is drafting a project that should be ready in less than a month. Alderete also said there are plans to change some collection booths and build walls in places where drivers avoid tolls.
