MOPC launches tender to upgrade route connecting San Lorenzo with Itá

Press release by Paraguay's Ministry of Public Works and Communications

This is a machine translation of the original release, issued in Spanish

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) calls on national construction companies to carry out the rehabilitation and maintenance works on Departmental Route 027, in the section of approximately 26.3km that goes from San Lorenzo to the city of Itá, connecting with route PY01.

This is MOPC Call No.109/2024 published on the Public Procurement portal with ID No. 455,007. The estimated amount of the works is G. 154,395,824,047 and the date of delivery of offers is scheduled for Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., at the Single Entry Table on the ground floor of the central MOPC building, located on Oliva and Alberdi.

The main objective of this project is to improve road safety and traffic conditions in this important corridor in the Central department.

Stages and deadlines

The work is divided into two main stages: the first consists of the rehabilitation of the route and the second its ongoing maintenance to preserve its standards over time. The contract has a total validity of 36 months, divided into 18 months for the rehabilitation works and 24 months for maintenance.

It is important to note that this contract is multi-year, which means that its validity in fiscal years 2025 and subsequent years will be subject to the budgetary provisions established by Law No. 7021/2022 on Public Supply and Procurement.

The main items to be executed

The route is currently in a deteriorated state, so it will undergo patching, milling, levelling and asphalt paving works. Also included in the plan are various elements of the road infrastructure such as roads, shoulders, drainage works, safety elements and right of way, both in rural and urban areas. Bridge structures are specifically excluded, although their pavements, joints and road safety elements are included.

All works will be carried out under the unitary pricing modality, following the specifications of the Paraguayan Highway Manual, under the supervision of the MOPC. This initiative not only aims to improve the circulation of users, but also to promote the economic development of the region, reducing the isolation of communities and decreasing the risk of accidents.
