Minister Claudia Centurión reported that the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) plans to award works this year for USD 840 million, including the expansion and improvement of route PY01, section Cuatro Mojones – Quiindy, in a length of 108 km.

Likewise, he indicated that, from the beginning of the administration until May, more than USD 815 million has been injected into the economy, being the best historical start of a Government. “And this year, in the first quarter, we have already executed USD 255 million, which represents 41% of our annual Financial Plan,” he added.

Transforming realities

For the MOPC minister, investments go much further than numbers. “We are transforming entire realities for the benefit of Paraguayans, and despite the inherited debts, our administration not only honored these commitments, but also achieved a significant increase in this year's budget execution, thus reactivating the economy and allowing the generation of new jobs,” he pointed out.

In this context, he valued the hard work carried out together with the Ministry of Economy and the National Directorate of Public Procurement , which has allowed the incorporation of projects not initially foreseen in the budget, thus managing to overcome the situation in which the institution found itself: a ministry not only in debt, but also without projects and with a 2024 budget that did not consider room for new calls.

USD 400 million for the most vulnerable districts

Minister Centurión also announced that they are preparing a new tender package for USD 400 million, which will be launched in the coming months, with the aim of addressing road projects in the most vulnerable districts of the country, such as Tempiaporá, O'Leary and Caazapá, without forgetting those emblematic ones announced by President Santiago Peña, such as the duplication of the highway from the airport to Mariano Roque Alonso, and the Tape Tujá -Curva Romero section.
