This is an automated translation of the press release issued in Spanish
The tendering process for the long-awaited road works in the departments of Caaguazú and Paraguarí is already underway. It includes the construction of the so-called “Banana Route”, which will connect Tembiaporã, Raúl Arsenio Oviedo and José Domingo Ocampos, in Caaguazú, while in Paraguarí the asphalting of the Quyquyhó-María Antonia section will be carried out.
The call identified as ' MOPC No. 123/2024: National Public Tender for the rehabilitation and paving of road sections in Caaguazú and Paraguarí ', ID No. 454,970, aims to improve road infrastructure and the quality of life in these areas of the country, benefiting more than 50,000 inhabitants of all the municipalities involved.
The total estimated investment amount is G. 250,546,573,472, and the submission of bids is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., at the MOPC Single Entry Desk, located on the ground floor of the central building, on the corner of Oliva and Alberdi streets.
The works will be divided into three lots:
Lot 1: Caaguazú – Districts of Tembiaporá, Raúl Arsenio Oviedo and José Domingo Ocampos, from km 0 to km 21 (21 km).
Lot 2: Caaguazú – Continuation of the same districts, from km 21 to km 41.6 km (additional 20.62 km), thus totaling an extension of 41.6 km for lots 1 and 2.
Lot 3: Paraguarí – Quyquyhó-María Antonia Section (31.5 km).
Each lot will have a term of execution of 24 months from the notification of the Start Order.
Main items
The work will include earthworks, asphalt paving, improvements to the drainage system, signage, installation of guardrails and other complementary works. The geometric design of the sections and the tread layer will also be improved.
With this initiative, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) seeks to meet a demand of several years, improving the connectivity of these populations with the main road corridors and facilitating access to essential services, which will boost the economic and social development of the benefited areas.
Tembiaporã
Tembiaporã, known as the “Banana Capital”, will celebrate its 46th anniversary on November 10th. Today, it has 20,000 inhabitants and is the largest banana producer in the country, selling to the national market and exporting to countries such as Argentina and Uruguay. There are also plans to export to Chile and European nations.
Maria Antonia
María Antonia is one of the newest municipalities in the country, created in 2016 by Law No. 5676. It was separated from the district of Mbuyapey so that its population could have autonomy in making important decisions that affect the town, after several years of abandonment. Today it has about 5,000 inhabitants, most of whom are dedicated to agriculture and livestock.
