- Representing the head of SICT , Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, the Undersecretary of Infrastructure signed the Letter of Intent to Establish the Infrastructure Policy Council.
- Today, more than ever, close collaboration between the government, schools, associations, federations, the private sector and civil society is needed, he said.
- Together we can complete an infrastructure that will be the engine of development, cohesion and well-being for all Mexicans, he stressed.
This government has a goal of building 12 Highway Axes with 4 thousand kilometers of federal highways, both toll-free and concessioned, the Program of Artisanal Roads will continue throughout the country and a new push will be given to conservation with the Bachetón program in the 32 states, highlighted the Undersecretary of Infrastructure of the SICT, Juan Carlos Fuentes Orrala.
Representing the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, the federal official signed as an honorary witness the Letter of Intent to Establish the Infrastructure Policy Council, which brings together engineering organizations in the country: the Engineering Academy, CICM, AMIVTAC, CIME, CMIC , CNEC, FEMCIC, IMEF and UMAI.
The Undersecretary of Infrastructure said that, in order to meet the road infrastructure goals, today more than ever, close collaboration between the government, schools, associations, federations, the private sector and civil society is needed.
Within the framework of the Second National Planning Forum CICM 2024, organized by the College of Civil Engineers of Mexico ( CICM ), he pointed out that the development of infrastructure planning is not only a set of works, but a powerful tool to close inequality gaps, boost the economy and guarantee resilience to the challenges of the future.
Regarding the signing of the Letter of Intent, he said that the Committee was formed at a very good time, “they have the full support of SICT to generate these policies for planning the country's infrastructure.”
He explained that this comprehensive approach will allow progress towards a multimodal transport system that links roads, railways, air terminals, among others, into a single national development network.
Planning, he stressed, becomes the first step towards achieving the long-term objective, because a well-planned infrastructure allows for optimizing resources, seeing future needs and ensuring that projects not only meet current demands, but are also resilient and sustainable.
He added that in this world we face, with increasing climatic and technological challenges, planning and public policies must respond to these realities. “Only in this way will we ensure that our decisions transcend generations, leaving a legacy that strengthens mobility, economic growth and the quality of life of all Mexicans.”
Talking about infrastructure is talking about the backbone of national development, and this government has taken on a renewing and strategic approach that prioritizes connectivity, sustainability and the well-being of the population.
And this initiative by the CICM shows this collective commitment. “I am convinced that together we can complete an infrastructure that will be the engine of development, cohesion and well-being for all Mexicans,” said the federal official.
