Bogotá, November 15, 2024. Telefónica Movistar Colombia announced its operating and financial results for the third quarter of 2024, which reflect the positive performance of connectivity through the fiber optic network, digital services, comprehensive solutions in corporate businesses, and prepaid services.
In its quarterly report, submitted to the Financial Superintendency, the company reported 1.44 million fiber optic customers - in 80 cities in the country - which represents a net year-on-year gain of 327 thousand accesses, with a growth of 26%.
As things stand, 94 out of every 100 Movistar broadband Internet service customers are already connected through the fiber optic network and have the best fixed Internet on the national market.
For the sixth time, Movistar Fiber is the fastest fixed Internet
This week, Ookla® certified Movistar for the sixth consecutive time as the operator that offers the fastest fixed Internet in Colombia and, for the first time, with the award for the Best Fixed Gaming Experience, highlighting its performance, stability and speed for online gamers.
In addition, due to the accelerated deployment of fiber, IPTV (Internet TV) accesses also increased to 798 thousand, which is equivalent to 94% of the company's total TV clients, which amounts to 851 thousand.
“The third quarter results demonstrate the commercial and operational effort that Movistar has made to maintain its position in the market and guarantee the best fixed and mobile connectivity experience for its customers. They also reflect a business strategy focused on capturing operational synergies and developing alternative business models,” said Fabián Hernández, President and CEO of Telefónica Movistar Colombia.
Regarding financial results, Movistar Colombia obtained total operating revenues of $4.87 billion at the end of the third quarter. Revenues from customers amounted to $4.58 billion, driven by connectivity through the fiber optic network and digital services for the business segment, among other businesses.
For its part, EBITDA (an indicator that measures performance and operating results before depreciation and amortization) in the first nine months of the year was $1.08 billion, with an increase of 1.1% compared to the same period in 2023.
