During the three days of scheduled visits, nearly ten companies toured the NOC Huachipa facilities, assessing the current state of the infrastructure and exploring opportunities for improvement to optimize the operation of the Network.
The technical team of the Engineering and Operations Directorate (DIOP) of the National Telecommunications Program (Pronatel) explained the operation of the NOC and the main responsibilities that the next operator will have to assume. The objective is to guarantee the continued operation of the RDNFO, as well as the quality and reliability of the carrier service.
The Vice Minister of Communications, Carla Sosa Vela, highlighted the importance of this action, which is added to others implemented to keep the market informed about this process. “At the MTC we are governed by an open-door and transparent policy. Our objective is to ensure that the next provisional operator is the most qualified to offer a quality and efficient service, guaranteeing that this asset that belongs to all Peruvians is managed in the best way,” she said.
The provisional operator, which will be in charge of the operation, maintenance and marketing of the network for a period of three years, will manage an infrastructure of 13,640 km of optical fiber. This network interconnects 180 provincial capitals, two Network Operations Centers in Lima and Trujillo, eight core nodes and 322 access nodes distributed throughout the country. The network is designed to support 100 Gbps in each of its five optical fiber rings, which ensures redundancy, high availability and reliability of the service.
The National Fiber Optic Backbone Network is a critical infrastructure for the development of telecommunications in Peru. Thanks to its five high-capacity rings, it allows telecommunications operating companies to request connections of up to 10 Gbps in the distribution nodes and 1 Gbps in the access nodes, thus facilitating robust connectivity that benefits millions of Peruvians throughout the national territory.
