The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through the National Telecommunications Program (Pronatel), continues to advance in the implementation of the 911 Emergency Center. It has awarded the design, supply and implementation process of the Emergency Management and Response System (SAGE), an essential technological platform to improve emergency management in the country and guarantee an efficient service for citizens.

In the coming days, the contract will be signed with the winning consortium, Motorola Solutions Inc - Motorola Solutions Perú S.A., which will be responsible for developing this advanced platform.

The project will be completed within 20 months and, once completed, will enable the 911 Center to offer centralized, agile and coordinated emergency assistance. The system will integrate public surveillance cameras, radio communications, and the recording of audio and video information, consolidating an efficient response ecosystem.

"The development of the 911 emergency system marks a milestone in our commitment to modernizing public services. Through technology, we are taking a firm step to ensure a rapid and coordinated response to any emergency, which will undoubtedly contribute to saving lives and improving the safety of all Peruvians when the center enters into operation," said the Minister of Transport and Communications, Raúl Pérez Reyes.

SAGE will also provide a real-time geolocation function, allowing for precise identification of the location of incidents, as well as a mobile application so that citizens can report emergencies quickly and safely. These innovations will significantly reduce response times, improving attention of the population in critical situations.

This system, which will benefit more than 10 million people in 43 districts of Metropolitan Lima and 7 million in Callao, will allow the integration of the main emergency lines in the country, such as the National Police of Peru (105), the General Fire Department of Peru (116), the Mobile Emergency Care System (106) and Line 100 of the National Aurora Program. The 911 Center will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and all year round.

The investment amount is S/187 million and will be financed by the MTC, through Pronatel, and in cooperation with the World Bank, for the implementation of this platform, which is expected to handle more than 800,000 emergency calls per year, thus consolidating a robust and accessible service for citizens.

The contract was awarded following a transparent and competitive process governed by World Bank regulations. Several companies from the sector participated, including the Sonda del Perú Consortium, Telefónica del Perú, Gilat Networks Perú, NGA 911 LLC and Italtel Perú, which ensures a rigorous and high-standard selection for the implementation of the project.
